Looking for a new/lightly used 1911 target model
Retired LEO who spent 36 years shooting combat qualifications with either a Glock 23 or 19. In my retirement I've purchased in the 1911 format: a RIA Tactical(used), a Para Elite Commander, and a Sig Sauer 1911 XO(both new). I've been reloading for over 2 years and have decided to begin focusing on improving my 25 yd. accuracy. I may or may not compete later on,currently I'm shopping for a 1911 with adjustable target sights. I'm willing to spend around $1000 and am ok with purchasing a lightly used pistol. My gunsmith likes the R1 enhanced(but has combat sights) and my friendly range officer has a Les Bauer he likes. This months Gun Test has a comparison of a Springfield Armory Loaded Target model and a Kimber Gold model. They liked both but thought the Springfield was a better value. I'd appreciate any thoughts, feedback, or experiences from members who have owned target 1911's. Thanks to all.
