Holster Wear

lundi 30 mai 2016

The only time I have carried a 1911 was in the Army and that weapon, obviously, was extremely well worn before I was issued it. Now I have my first 1911 which I will be carrying.

I have been shooting it quite a lot but not carrying it. I have yet to get a holster. I did uncover my old GI shoulder holster which a D-ring had snapped on and it needed repair so the armorer told me to keep it when I was ETSing.

Anyway I fixed it and put it on, quite the "blast from the past!" I put my RIA FS GI in it and removed it 2 times and noticed the finish was removed from the muzzle contact points. I have no personal experience with how long it takes for noticeable holster wear to appear on a 1911. Understand I am not complaining, just an observation, as I fully expect to have plenty of holster wear on this weapon. It adds "character" to it!
