Texas Rangers 1911's

dimanche 29 mai 2016

My wife and I visited the Texas Rangers' Museum in Waco, Texas, yesterday.

If you are in the area, it is well worth a stop for an hour or so.

1911's were heavily preferred and well represented in the collections donated/lent by families of Rangers. Since this is the 1911 Forum, thought others might enjoy seeing some of the more unique 1911's. Most of the pistols, even with fancy grips, still show heavy wear, bluing worn to silver, rust, dings, dents and scratches. They were really put to use.

One surprise was that Springfield Armory makes a stainless model especially for the Texas Rangers, with special serial numbers "TR xxx." There were several of these obviously recent models in the area honoring Rangers killed in the line of duty reflecting the very real dangers still present.

Photo quality is not great as these are just taken with a phone through glass, but thought others might find these of interest.

Enjoy.

In addition to the nice gold inlay and engraving, note the absence of a trigger guard on this one below.
