I have a new stainless Dan Wesson V-bob that I'm in the process of turning into something more personal.
I'm doing the break in while making sure that the components I've changed really work for me before it gets sent off for some machining and a refinish.
The finishes considered were Ionbond, DW's own duty treat (I have a specialist with it and like it a lot) and Dave's hard hat. The couple of people I've spoken to with experience with the hard hat rave about it and are pretty unequivocal that hard hat is superior to the duty treat and worth the extra expense.
So, unless I hear a bunch of nightmare stories in this thread, it's the direction I'm going to follow.
I neither baby or abuse my guns, but they get shot a lot (Specialist has close to 7k through it with very few issues)and for the V-bob, I'm going for an all black "murdered out" look.
What I'm debating now is, should I get the barrel refinished as well? I'm curious if anyone out there has a decently high round count 1911 with a hard hatted barrel that could share with me how the barrel hood is holding up?
Thanks!
