Measuring new slides and frames...

Hello all!

What measures (bad pun) do you take to ensure the new frame and slide that you will be using on a new 1911 build are within spec? And by "spec" I mean is there a set of dimensions that you want to see parts of the frame and slide within before you begin? What do you do if they are not within spec for you?
