Extended magazine release option

I'm experimenting with Pachmayer wrap around grips with the thumb swell. So far I think I like them enough to want to keep them... with one exception. It is more difficult to access the magazine release without altering my grip quiet a bit.

I've got an EGW HD raised magazine catch in my parts box. I decided to compare it to the factory one and found that it is a fair bit longer. I can access it a little easier, but it is not an "extended" catch. Also, I'm not so sure the "raised" aspect will be needed, helpful or counterproductive to reliability.

I am, however, curious about this Ed Brown option.

How would I go about making measurements to determine that this Ed Brown product is extended more than the EGW? I don't have a spec sheet on the EGW that I can compare to Ed Browns .060 claim.
If it is has a little more length at the button than the EGW I am inclined to try it out. Not to mention that it has wonderful reviews by Springfield owners.

Or course, different grips is a viable option, but I'm really digging the feel of the wrap around thumb swell and I'd like to give them a fair chance to work.
