Pre-Series II Gold Match Rebuild Kit?
I bought a used pre-series II Gold Match. I put about 5 or 6 mags through it and it functions flawlessly. However, when I field stripped it, there were badly warn, torn and separating recoil guide rod bushings. The guide also shows signs of a lot of wear (scuffs/shiny areas where the spring rubs). I am assuming the gun is probably due for some new springs and possibly another guide rod. Since it has surface rust, I am going to send it to Robar and get the Roguard finish with the NP3 finish on all internal parts. So I would like to replace any internal parts before I do this. My question is, what are the best and/or appropriate springs and guide rod (and guide rod bushings) for the Gold Match. (Kimber?, Wilson Combat?, Etc.) Also, do you think the mainspring and firing pin and spring should be replaced, or do they last "forever". I have never replaced internal parts on any handgun before and this is my first Kimber, so assume I know nothing. (Because I don't!). Thanks!
