I bought my ATI FX 45 Titan approximately six months ago. It has been a baptism of fire with Failure To Feed and later Failure To Eject problems. Even after over 600 rounds through the gun it still felt like the pistol was fighting itself. I had my local gunsmith give it a once over and he cleaned up a few bits polishing mating surfaces and the feed ramp. Made some adjustments to the ejector to stop the regular spent casings chucked into my forehead. Each time we made small steps but confidence in the gun was still wanting. Following the much recommended recoil spring guide rod upgrade to the Colt Defender pieces is when the FTE started to rear its ugly head. Now I am not blaming the Colt Parts, just referencing them as a point along the timeline of the development of my pistol. re examining the pistol again we found the extractor had lost all tension and would not hold a spent casing against the breech face. we installed a WC Bulletproof Series 70 extractor and the gun has been operating without as hitch. It now feels like it is working as the well oiled machine it was designed to be. I think I was on a slow learning curve trying to get this gun functioning. not any one part was the magic solution but the combination of all. it just seems like the weak extractor was the last thing corrected that got it working.
The pistol in its current configuration has Tru Glo tritium sights, Colt Defender recoil spring and guide rod assembly, WC Bulletproof extractor, Pachmayr rubber wrap around grips and running WC magazines. it has approximately 1200 rounds through it at this time. Confidence is growing and if I can get another 400 troublefree rounds through it. it may earn some carry time.
Overall I am happy with the gun and only have about $600.00-650.00 invested in it. With a little work I think ATI is making some nice guns and I would not rule out buying another ATI 1911
