Because I don't have a car really, I don't have the option of leaving my weapon in my car - if I have it, I gotta carry it.
The Texas statutes make carrying in an establishment that makes more than 50% of its revenue from alcohol (a bar, usually) felony. Not a problem for me. Beyond that, there's another part of the statute, Section 30.06, that sets out a special notice someone can put up to make it misdemeanor to carry on the premises. Other than that, it was generally OK with a few exceptions (and you could be trespassing if someone told you to leave and you didn't of course).
The thing was, nobody seemed to know about the 30.06 notice. And I like to think they didn't worry too much about licensed conceal and carriers. So generally I got around OK.
But now that the open carry law has gone into effect, everyone got so freaked out that they went and read the statutes (there's a new 30.07 notice you can put up to prevent open carry). And while they were at it, they put up *both* 30.07 and 30.06 notices.
The upshot is that now there are 30.06 signs everywhere - since I'm on foot, it's become a lot more difficult to go anywhere unless I leave my weapon at home.
