Question about grips

Hi Gents
I just recently purchased a 1943 Colt s/n 8813xx . It has hollow back stocks with the large reinforcing rings around the grip screws .

My question is - when did they stop using the hollow back stocks ?
My book by Joe Poyers says they stopped around s/n 845,000 . This would make my grips incorrect . Every thing on the gun looks correct - and in very good shape !

Perhaps Clawsons book has a different number ?
