New TRP experience

I own two Colts (one standard Government and one standard Commander). I love them both, I'm better at shooting my Government though and although two very great and reliable firearms I wanted something with all the bells and whistles without spending 3K on high end custom.

Well, I took this out to the desert and shot the hell out of it. It's heavy.... very heavy but super grippy, smooth and accurate. I was really pleased with how well it performed. Two questions: I hear the TRP experience fairs comparable to the High end customs...true? How could it be any better really? Many higher end 1911's have full length guide rods. I'm used to GI guide rod and plug but something tells me leave it as it was designed. Thoughts.
