Took my dad shooting today, first time.
Been shooting a good 5 months now, 1000's of dollars in ammo easy, lol. Took about 5 , 3 hours training classes with a tactical trainer 1 on 1, so I feel I'm pretty ok at safety stuff and shooting in general now, (still a noob)
So my dad being a formal liberal, who now loves Bill O'reilly and Hanity, I figured breaking the ice with him about me and gun would go ok and it did
He loved the part that his father for 3 years in the pacific walked around with the same gun (1911)
WE went today and shockingly he picked it up like a champ, after feeling out both weapons he was finally able to keyhole 3 in a row with the 1911 (of course)
He did slice his thumb like the typical rookie mistake, putting his off hand too high and exposing his thumb to the slide.
Overall it was a great experience, he even helped me clean it, he was shocked when he saw how complex the cleaning of the 1911 was compared to the shield.
Not sure if he has the bug, but from the time we got there to just before we left he went from nervous to more comfortable .
and of course the action shot
