Remmington UMC 1911 with german proof Marks?
Hi, saw this 1911 Remmington UMC 1911 at the Houston Gun Show, with the serial number polished off and two Capital Letter upper case like LZ and a WW2 german proof mark stamped next to the 2 capital letters. It is a shame because the pistol was very nice and all matching. The dealer who had it said the US sold Nazi Germany some 1911's for some strange reason. This was not a post war german nitro proof, but a German eagle with a nazi x under it.
Has anyone seen any of these pistols marked this way? Or just a post war creation for some GI?
