My first 1911 build

mardi 3 mai 2016

I started with some decent parts and a bit of research. I decided to use all stainless parts since there was going to be so much filing and blending. I also wanted to reserve the option to checker it later.

The frame is from VytamenC, it was a very nice 80% compared to the first two frames I ordered and had to return.
I decided on a Caspian flat bow trigger. The pins and springs are Ed Brown. The hammer and sear are S7 steel from STI. All the rest of the parts are Wilson Combat.

The only part I feel I compromised on was the slide. I could not resist the deal I got on this one from CDNN for $140. Once I had everything in my hands I set up my mini mill to cut the rails. After that easy step was complete the real work began. With all the grinding, sanding, blending and stoning it took to fit the slide the rest of the work I put into this pistol seemed pretty simple and really fun.

I did not take a lot of pictures but you get the basic idea of what happened here. I am positive the next one I build will be nicer but this one is a decent result for my first 1911.
