I've not had good results with ACT, Wilson Combat service plus, Colt Hybrids, Metalform and a few budget brands.
Today I had 200rnds function flawless with Mec-Gar. Not only this for reassurance, but when I pull the slide off the frame, insert a magazine, set the barrel in place, I can actually see how the follower and feedlips are holding the round securely and not allowing the round to release past the feedramp/barrel ramp until the slide takes over.
In the past, with all other magazines I've tried this was not the case. The round would NOT stop against the feedramp under inertia of slide/frame impact. The rounds would prematurely release into the chamber before the slide could take control and nestle the case rim behind the extractor. This would result in a round chambered ahead of the extractor, with the extractor pressed against the back of the case rim instead of the case rim being held by the extractor.
This problem would occur between 1-5 times in a box of 50 with standard ball. Today I got 200rnds of standard ball to feed like butter using Mec-Gar mags.
I hope this makes since. FYI, I sent the gun into Armscore 2 times and the problem was never solved. They would send it back with a new magazine that wasn't any better than the old one, or with something polished all pretty like, but that was it.
I reckon folks aren't kidding when they say finding the right magazines for a 1911 is a journey of trial and error. The good thing is that all the magazines my RIA doesn't like work just fine in my Springfield Loaded
I wanted to post this because I thought it might help someone else. Thanks folks!
