What would make GI followers scrape the feed ramp?
I have a Colt all steel Commander. The other day, after shooting I found a scrape on the lower feed ramp that appears to be from the magazine follower. I have 12 mags (all 7 round); 8 have the Checkmate skirted followers, and the rest are stock Colt with GI followers. I shot a box of ball ammo with the Colt magazines (I have put about 3-4000 rounds through the gun and this is the first time this has happened). I have read that it may be weak mag springs, so I have some extra strength on order. I am still wondering why now? I have read this can be a problem with alloy receivers, but rarely steel. I was able to polish the scrape out, but I would prefer not to have to deal with the again.
