Evolution Armory transformation XSE Commander

This Colt XSE commander is my first Colt. I wanted it for daily carry but I soon found out that it wasn't going to work for me. The thumb safety made me bleed as it wasn't blended enough to keep it from digging into my hand when recoiling. This was swapped with a Wilson safety. No more blood. A mushroomed firing pin followed after not even 300 rounds. This too was replaced with a Wilson pin and spring. Then the front sight fell off after drawing from the holster. At that point I realized I needed to send it to Dave at Evolution Amory.

Dave has been by far the most attentive pistolsmith I've ever talked with. I counted the number of emails between him and I and there are 41! For him to handle emails, do the actual work and handle all the logistics involved with running his business and still keep a very positive attitude goes a long way. What I love the most is the willingness to make recommendations. Other places just give you what you want even if they think there's a better part or method you should be aware of before you make a decision.

I've learned to stay away from production Colt guns unless I am planning on sending them to Dave right away. These guns deserve a craftsman to really shine.

I'll post updates as Dave makes this piece really shine.
