Good week -- 2 new Colts!

vendredi 29 avril 2016

Well, all the Colt goodness floating around out there the past couple of weeks caught up with me (and my checkbook) in the past several days.

The first thing I noticed about a week ago was that the Custom Shop did some .38 Super Special Combat Governments in an all blue finish. Several showed up on GB -- model O2580CMZ (the "Z" denoting the non-standard all blue finish). Over the years I've often considered getting a SCG, but thought that I'd prefer an all blue in .38 Super (which was not available short of a special order). Suddenly, there it was on GB -- and who knows how many there are or when/if Colt will do them again. Huge temptation!

Next, like a day or two later, I saw the Series 70 Government O1070A1Z Level 2 from the Custom Shop and even exchanged PMs with BJT72 to learn a bit more about those. At that point I was thinking how neat the Level 2 would be along with the SCG. Can I swing this, I asked myself.

THEN, I log on to the Forum and there is a post that the 9 mm Lightweight Commanders are at dealers. My poor collector brain turned to mush! Three new Colts!?

Well, NO. Reality set in. Three is crazy (and my wife would NOT understand). Fortunately I just sold a Browning H-P and I'm getting ready to sell my Springfield EMP. My wife says since I'm selling two that getting a couple "replacements" doesn't seem so bad. YES!!

I decided that I had to have the SCG and that, of the other two, I would shoot (and possibly carry) the Commander while the Level 2 would be mostly a "collection piece". So, on Tuesday I jumped on a Commander and it should get to my dealer today or tomorrow. Today I put my check in the mail for the SCG. Hoping it gets here by the end of next week, but whenever is fine.

I've noticed over the years that there can be dry spells when a search of GB and browsing the Forum turns up nothing that triggers the "I GOTTA HAVE ONE!" reaction. (This is actually a good thing. ) Then, all of a sudden, the dam breaks and its time to scramble for funding and spousal approval to avoid missing yet another "chance of a lifetime", rare "one of a handful", "too good a deal to pass up".

I guess that's part of what makes the hobby (and life) fun. I'll get pics up in this or a new thread once both the new ponies are in the stable.
