There are so many (too many) manufacturers, as well as models of this gun to make an intelligent decision, IMO. This is not a condemnation of any gun maker, or the industry in general. It is merely fact. The standard answer to one asking for assistance in purchasing a (first) 1911 is, "It is a personal choice, whatever is best for you." Uh-huh.
Not even taking into consideration the quality (he said/she said) of each firearm, there is such a wide spread of $$ ($300 - infinity), sizes (Officer, Commander, Government)(Did I mention "Compact"?), finishes, calibers, etc., etc., etc. Where to turn?
The point of this little epistle is to say I'm almost (almost) to the point of throwing up my hands and convincing myself I don't really want one in the first place if it is going to cause me this much consternation and stress!
I realize half the fun of this gun hobby business is looking, touching, shooting, buying, and owning, but.....................geesh.
Seriously, anyone of you ever felt this way?
Confused and bewildered
