Accidental Discharge
I was at the last day of training in a course called Tactical Application of the Pistol. I was doing this to qualify for my Church's armed security team. What happened was like an idiot I had clicked off the safety and placed my finger on the trigger before being on the target. Thank the Lord that the firearm was pointed in a safe direction and it kicked up some rocks. No one was injured. The Range Officer had me fill out a report and after doing this was informed that I could no longer shoot and that basically failed the class. All the class members, about 20 guys and one gal asked me how I was doing and feeling. The LEO's in the class said this has happened to everyone once. This was my first AD in 40 years of handling a handgun. I offer no excuses for my negligence. I don't know if the Church will kick me off the team or not. I still feel that I am a Sheepdog and want to defend the flock but because of this incident may never have that opportunity again. Just wanted to get this off my chest as I am embarrassed, humbled and depressed. Thanks for reading this! I hope this never happens to anyone of you.
