Value of Springfield Armory 1911
I have an opportunity to purchase a Springfield Armory 1911 made in 1915 (serial #1176XX). All parts that should be marked S are. The barrel is Springfield, marked correctly for the serial number block according to Clawson. The bore is actually in pretty good condition. Grips are Springfield. The pistol shows considerable wear but no abuse and no rust pitting. All frame and slide markings are present as they should be. I'm not good at estimating the condition of the finish on pistols but there is original finish remaining at about maybe 60%. Sorry I don't have pictures of it. The asking price is $2000. Based on my description, is this a fair price because I don't have a clue as far as Springfields are concerned? I just assumed that because of rarity I would never run into one in my travels so I haven't studied up on them. Thanks for any help you can give me.
