New DW Valor SS @ 100 Rounds

ME: I'm new to 1911's and this is my first one. For the money a great choice I think.
AMMO: Federal American Eagle 230gr Ball
PISTOL: Photo attached following strip down and cleaning / lubing before first range session. Fit and finish is pretty awesome for a factory gun! The slide to frame fit looking at the slide from the back is tight and no gaps are visible. The trigger is amazing.
ACCURACY and SIGHT REGULATION: I'm shooting a bit low and left but it is accurate and once I get some time behind it I'll shoot for groups.
STOPPAGES: FTF @ round #10 (DW Checkmate Mag..last round in the mag) ; FTF @ round #58 (New WC 500 ETM right out of the package...last round in the mag).
LUBE: Slip 2000 EWL 30 and EWG
BARREL HOOD WEAR: See the thread below. Slightly more wear on the hood after the second session but nothing to write home about. I did send the photos form my previous thread to Shawn Sastri @ DW for a smith to look at and this was the response I got:

According to gunsmith normal wear, he recommended keeping the barrel hood oiled and that will reduce the wear.

MODS AFTER 100 RNDS: Installed Ed Brown Maxi-well (see photos...yes it is propped up on a spool of my wife's quilting thread , improvise!). Fit and finish on the Maxi-well is great. When you take the screw out of the well you have to pull it apart from the main spring housing....they don't just come apart. Threw some blue thread locker on it, tightened it up, and installed. There is a very small gap, almost imperceptible unless you look closely, between the frame and the well but the well is perfectly parallel with the frame. No reason to mess with it as it is not a show queen.
THOUGHTS ON THE 1911: Pointing it is like pointing my index finger. It is like an extension of my hand. Hard to believe the design is so old but still going so strong. I was never a lover or a hater but after digesting huge amounts of history on the JMB design and its service in conflicts around the world I have huge respect for it. I'm becoming a lover. I bought Jerry Kuhnhausen Vol 1 & 2 just so I could learn it in depth.
MAG TREATMENT: Some of you may flame on me but I frog lubed (paste) my 2 Checkmates and my 4 new WC 500's. I don't use it on the gun but I think it is great on the mags because I can apply, wipe completely dry, and they are still slick. The followers in the WC's run up and down more smoothly now.

I'm really hoping the FTF's clear up and it will eat some Speer 230gr GDHP's without issue once she is broken in. I bought a Garret STX 2.0 OWB and a double mag holder so I can shoot IDPA with it. If it will get to the point where it goes bang every time I pull the trigger I'll use it for EDC but for now I'll stick with the VP9.

Out, DZ
