Ed's red without acetone

mercredi 1 juin 2016

OK, I'm getting ready to finally make my own Ed's Red (although without acetone as I'm not a fan of what it does to plastic and due to the fact that it will slowly evaporate out of the solvent over time anyways). soooooooo, late night trip to walmart and I'm back with ATF fluid, Kerosene and Mineral spirits. Now my question is did I get the RIGHT ones of each. I got the Supertec Dextron VI (the original recipe called for Dextron II, III or IV, but that was years ago) and some Klean Strip mineral spirits + Kerosene. I'm fine with the kerosene as Kerosene is Kerosene, but I've included links to the other two and and pics too and was hoping someone could glance over the specs and make sure I didn't get the wrong type (I'm not so familiar with ATF fluid but I know that there are a ton of "alternative" mineral spirit formulas out there kind of like TSP alternatives that aren't REAL Tsp).

last but not least. I know the original recipe dictated using a metal tin to mix the chemicals up in, but since no acetone is it ok to just mix the 3 quarts up in a cheapo plastic bucket and then pour them immediately back into their respective 1 quart containers that they came in?

Let's block ads! (Why?)
