My Compact ULC Pistol looks like this: Image: http://ift.tt/24emEYX (http://ift.tt/1O5nvhP) Will this fit: Image:...I'm guessing the problem is that a spring has weakened. Pin looks fine.
Interested in opinions.
Range day
I would have posted this in a brand forum, but, as you can see, it does not fit in any single one. Just a great day shooting 250 rounds out of three good 1911's. I love Saturday. Dan Wesson Cbob, Wilson Combat Stealth, and a Ed Brown Executive Target. All in 45 ACP. All shoot great to the same POA.
Ok, so it didn't actually go down exactly like that. But, Dave @ Evolution Armory came through big. He hard fit the stainless NHC barrel and barrel bushing w/plug and black IonBonded the parts. Him and Mark were both very responsive and provided frequent updates. I don't think those Gents ever sleep.
I hit the range today for a quick function test. I don't have my .45 suppressor yet, so obviously that phase of the operation will need to take place at a later time. For now, I just blasted 50 rounds of hardball and 25 rounds of hollow point, using various models of Wilson Combat magazines.
The pistol performed without a glitch. I only shot from the 7 yard line, although it may have been closer to 8 . But, I'm not a target shooter, so that's the line I always stay planted at.
Overall, I'm very pleased, Thanks Dave! Good call on the IonBond, there's not even a single scratch on the barrel after 75 rounds, but I'll try harder next time to change that.

Remember Kesselring's?
After the original shop lost their FFL, one of the family members and the original shipping clerk, who held an FFL, opened Northwest Performance Firearms in the newly constructed "Skagit Shooting Range" in Burlngton, WA., two years ago.
As it happens, NWPF lost their FFL two weks ago - paper work "irregularities" - I believe the saga has ended. The owners of SSR will now try to resurrect the firearms retail space, starting with a modest inventory. I hope they make it work, competition is good but they are less rhan a mile away from Skagit Arms, a well run store with more than adequate inventory and awaiting completion of their new, much larger facility.

So last week I saw this KC posted for sale on another forum and the time was right. I made a deal for it and it's now mine. I shot it today and really enjoyed the experience. Accuracy was great and it was comfortable to shoot as well. It has more felt recoil than my NH Marvel 45, but I expected that. Total round count is now 300 between me and the previous owner, so it's not even broken in yet. I'll be spending more time in this sub-forum as I'm back in the Brown club. Here are a few pics of the pistol and a target from today (5 shots at 7 yards):

A Bit of Improvement
Got out to the range today. So nice to see improvement. Been shooting over 40 years but, this is my first pistol (45 1911A1) Pretty dang hot with my 6" S&W model 28 (Highway Patrolman), so the shift and learning curve with the45 had me a bit frustrated the 1st couple of outings. Now that I've got approx. 500 rds. through it, I'm really digging it. Stayed in the black all day today @ 25 yds. except for a couple of fliers I knew were crap the instant I pulled the trigger. Got to get me an extended beaver tail. Once that hammer whacks you (and it did) it's hard to put that out of your head. I am an engine overhaul guy
so I am used to machining and precision measurement. Whose "drop-in" beavertail would you all recommend? Thanks for all the info and support thus far fellas. Sure seems like a great group of guys. Jim.

Single sided or Ambi. Blued is preferred, and it can look beat up, as its going on a beater FEG. I don't wanna spend too much if I can help it as anew Cylinder and slide unit is my back up plan. PM is the best way to get a hold of me. Thanks, MarkPowered by vBulletin® Version 3.8.8

I'm wondering if anybody has these for their Loaded model. I'd like to pick up a pair but obviously I don't know, aside from calling, if there is a cutout for the ambi. safety on the right grip. Of course, it wouldn't be much risk to take a gamble.
Also, has anybody been able to specifically get darker grips from SA? I say this because the grips that mine shipped with were half red instead of a dark brown. I'd like to get a much darker pair.
The magazine follower is over riding the slide stop, when this occurs, the magazine does not drop free because the magazine follower is above the slide stop.
This is happening with both GI factory Colt magazines that came with the gun.
The slide locks back when just cycling the gun by hand on an empty magazine.
Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

Fusion Vs. Caspain Vs. Rebuild
First, the background, I have done some small work on a Springfield Mil-Spec, replacing all of the small parts with quality pieces, EGW, C&S, Wilson etc. Fitted a new thumb safety, over sized bushing and an extractor fitted and tension so that it passes safety checks and the 10-8 extractor test. I am by no means a gun smith, just handy and experienced with files from knife making (hobby, not profession). So, I have done a few things, slowly and with much reading and care. Other things I don't dare do like fit a slide to frame.
So, with that out of the way I am looking at one of three things for a commander sized 9mm build. Option 1: purchase a Fusion "Kit" with slide/frame and barrel fitted and do the rest of the work myself. Option 2: Caspian Slide and likely Foster frame (I love 1911's, my budget often screams Hi Point) have them fit the slide and frame and start work on an Ed Brown semi-fit barrel. Option 3: Purchase a Springfield Champion and start working to replace the small parts with higher quality parts.
The first 2 options will involve buying things as I save the money and then carefully fitting all of the small parts. The final work on the trigger job may be sent to a custom shop in the end depending on nerves and budget. This will quite a while to do. The 3rd option will put a functioning gun in my hand that I think will be a good base for frame, slide and barrel fit and I know I can handle the small parts work if I go slow and pay attention.
So, learned 1911 folks, do you have any recommendations on direction here? In the end, the money will be about the same for all 3 options. I hopefully wouldn't be over my head with a semi-fit barrel, but you never know and that is an expensive mistake to make. Be kind, be gentle and remember, this is my first time!
Most actually "manufacture" their own SBR. You get an appropriate lower, engrave your information on it, and submit a Form 1 with $200 to the ATF. Once you have your tax stamp, you can legally pair your lower with an upper of less than 16" in length.
That's a great simplification of course. The ATF is about to change the rules in July for how a trust purchases NFA items, so there is a huge rush on now of people submitting for tax stamps. It took 4 months for me to get back a couple of Form 1s at the beginning of the year. The wait will be much longer by the time July comes.

Tore down my CQB Elite for the first time last night and there it was...a blue shock buff . Tried to look the other way but when I re-assembled , the slide would not go back far enough to properly align the slide stop notch . Looked over my shoulder to see that Bill was not looking and removed the...I bought this Supergrade Compact from an acquaintance.
Then I saw this picture. I can't remember who posted it, but I decided to "acquire" the idea.
First I photoshopped the Color Case Hardening onto my pistol.
It looked OK, so I sent it to Turnbull to blend a roundbutt magwell, gold bead front sight, color case harden the frame, and do the Turnbull Blue on the slide and small parts. I ordered grips from Brian Challis
This is what the frame looked like being packed to go to Turnbull
Here it is back from Turnbull before Challis Grips
And then sometiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiime later, the Challis grips arrived. They really woke the pistol up!
These pics were taken outside, so you will see reflections of the surroundings in the polished bluing.

WTS Glock 34 SS Lonewolf Ported Barrel: Standard length
WTS Glock 34 SS Lonewolf Ported Barrel. I have a new Glock 34 by Lonewolf. This is the stainless steel ported unit. I'm fairly sure its new still in the container. Bought this as part of a package. This is standard rifling appropriate for cast bullets.
Barrel is standard length with ports coming out of the lightening cut on the slide. Asking $100 shipped
I have shot a lot (probably 300-500) of coated bullets through this weapon, however, I have also shot them in other 1911's without this occurring.
Just curious if any of you other classic owners have seen this phenomena.

I'm looking to replace the old, ragged looking Arched Mainspring Housing with a new one that enhances the beauty of a basic blued COLT.
The one I have now is arched and serrated. I now want one that is Arched and CHECKERED. The only place I found that has them is Rock River Arms which has them in 20, 25 and 30 LPI. I saw the BLUED versions and I don't know if they have them in stainless. They do look really nice.
Do you all know of other makers or retailers that have arched and serrated MSH's in blue?
Please post if you know of any others and of course if you have pics of your 1911 with an arched and checkered MSH please post them. I never get tired of seeing beautiful 1911's!!
Thanks everyone for the help.

I worry about the 8 round jamming after a few quick articles I read, but I was assured by many here as long as its a quality mag, there shouldn't be too much trouble.
This gun is simply a range gun, I don't really like the big bumps on the bottom of most after market mags and I was about to buy two of these
2 8 round mags
http://ift.tt/1rp2FWa
or a wilson combat mag which might be a few bucks more.
If its known that Wilson Combat mags much better mags, what would be model for the closest looking mag like the Springfield?
Thanks!

WTB:38 Super Nickel Mags & Nickel Polished Colt MSH
Looking to buy a Gov/Commander size factory Colt polished Nickel main spring housing. I would also like to buy a plastic Colt grey arched MSH, as well. I have tons of USGI parts and Colt factory parts to trade or will buy outright. Thanks!
Anyway, the point of this thread:
I used to have a CA "approved" pistol I could take to CA. Now that pistol is no longer on the approved list. I'm not a CA resident, so, by CA law, I'd have to register all my weapons when moving there. For new residents there are NO grandfathered in weapons. If CA is anything like NY or NJ, if you are not a State resident you are screwed.
So, I'm looking for a new CA legal weapon to be able to travel there, and, even under their draconian laws still have some chance of wielding a weapon in lawful self defense.
If I buy ANOTHER CA legal pistol and it "falls off" of the approved list in three or four years, am I still covered? From my limited law knowledge, I don think so.
Comments and expertise would be much appreciated.
